Like all great inventions, SXSW Interactive in Austin, Texas, has gone through its Gartner Hype Cycle. First came the buzzing hyperbole. In 2007, a startup called Twitter took SXSW by storm, and one year later, Mark Zuckerberg was grilled in a interview (deemed either disastrous or sexist)  by journalist Sarah Lacy, generating wild enthusiasm for Facebook as the new, big media platform. Were you there? Did you hear Zuck speak? If you worked in media, SXSW Interactive each March — a thought-leadership series far different than the concurrent music and film SXSW carnivals — was the place to be.

And then the buzz collapsed. Big brands crept in, taking over entire buildings with “activations” and with their slickness eroding SXSW’s cool. Some of this was positive: The 9:1 male-female ratio of the conference’s early days became more 50:50, and the exaggerated hoopla over every little app launch (Foursquare, Gowalla, Color,

The proposed study will capitalize on the early predictive information stored in an individual’s genetic risk for Parkinson Disease (PD) in combination with the subtle features of tremors that can be extracted from movement data gathered by modern compact accelerometers in order to determine if accurate discrimination of essential tremor (ET) from PD can be achieved. Both of these technologies have a proven but somewhat limited ability to inform diagnosis of PD or differentiation of PD from ET – especially at early stages of the disease. The investigators hypothesize that a combination of prior genetic risk and current disease symptomology can synergize for accurate and early discrimination of PD from ET and ultimately inform a cost effective approach to movement disorder diagnosis.

In this study, the investigators will collect blood from individuals with confirmed late-onset diagnosis of PD and ET. Gold standard diagnosis status will be determined via the Unified

Technology in the classroom can be so much more and so much better than the stereotypical cell phone going off in the middle of class. Technology can actually be a major tool, both in terms of pedagogical resources and in terms of connecting with the younger generations. But how does this work?

The top seven important concepts to understand when examining the use of technology for educational or instructional purposes include:

1) Active engagement with the learning material.
Technology is interactive, and students learn by doing, researching, and receiving feedback. This helps students become passionate about what they are learning. For example, they may study geography using interactive software such as Google Maps or Google Earth, instead of looking at a picture.

2) Use of real-world issues.
This model encourages the use of real-world problems in the classroom. By using the Internet, students can research real issues happening at that

This allows your devices act as a USB mass storage like external hard drive or thumb drive.

Kernel support

Currently, the g_mass_storage module is not compiled as part of default kernel configuration.

To enable this, follow same kernel building information as previous section USB Ethernet support but instead of compiling “Ethernet Gadget”, select the following to “m”:

Device Drivers  --->
	USB support  --->
		USB Gadget Support  --->
			<M>     Mass Storage Gadget

You can now continue following manual build howto to continue kernel compilation and installation.

Preparing shared storage device

See “Backing Storage for the Mass Storage Gadget” for full instructions and recommendations.

Be aware that shared storage cannot be used in “read write” mode if both systems (device and host) are using it at same time except if you accept to corrupt your data…

An existing physical partition or a logical volume can be used as shared storage device; another

Adding technology to a preschool or kindergarten classroom is always a little bit tricky. You have to walk a fine line. On one hand, we know that when delivered in the right fashion, technology instruction can be beneficial for young children. On the other hand, we want to be certain that we aren’t just adding unnecessary screen time to the lives of kids who may already be spending far too much time on devices and watching TV. Here are six ways you can add technology to your early childhood classroom that encourage free play and problem solving.

1. Recycle Old Tech in Your Play Center

You know that flip phone that’s been in your drawer forever? Now’s the time to break it out! Put out a call to friends and parents for outdated (but safe—for example, with batteries removed) technology. In our classroom, we have a basket of old electronics

Health

(Health.com) — Some children and teens are more likely than their peers to become addicted to the Internet, and a new study suggests it’s more likely to happen if kids are depressed, hostile, or have attention deficit hyperactivity disorder or social phobia.

Teenagers who use the Internet so much that it interferes with everyday life and decision-making may be addicted.

Teenagers who use the Internet so much that it interferes with everyday life and decision-making may be addicted.

Although an Internet addiction is not an official diagnosis, signs of a potential problem include using the Internet so much for game playing or other purposes that it interferes with everyday life and decision-making ability. (The diagnosis is being considered for the 2012 edition of the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders, the “bible” of mental ailments published by the American Psychiatric Association).

Past research suggests that 1.4 percent to 17.9 percent of adolescents are addicted to the Internet, with percentages higher in Eastern nations than in Western nations,
