If you need to know how to spy on a computer, I’ll tell you right now that it’s with software. But not all are created equal… some can spy on certain activities, but not everything. What’s more is that most do not do so invisibly – and this is the key thing here. Invisibility and stealth are paramount to the success of monitoring computer activities no matter the reasons. Why?

For example, this is not how to spy on a computer; if you’re trying to keep an eye on your kid while he’s online to make sure he doesn’t go off on some crazy bestiality porn site, it would do nothing if there’s some blinking fireball of an icon pulsating in the system task bar. He’ll clearly know he’s being watched, and go off to a friend’s house to check out some porn on his friend’s computer.

Obviously, that is … Read More

When Irwin Jacobs, chief executive and founder of Qualcomm Inc. had his laptop stolen from a journalism conference in September 2000, it shed light on a growing problem.

Other recent events have focused national attention on the laptop security issue, consider the following:

o In July 2001 the Federal Bureau of Investigation reported that 184 laptops had been stolen or lost. At least one and possibly as many as four contained classified information.

o In April 2001 the British Defense Ministry reported 205 laptops missing since 1997, most of which contained classified materials.

o In February 2000 a laptop computer with “highly classified” information disappeared from the U.S. State Department. Then, in May 2000 two more laptops were reported missing from the U.S. State Department.

While technology has made laptops smaller, easier to store and transport, it has also made them easier to conceal and steal. It’s the convenience that … Read More

4 Computer Money-saving Tips

May 4, 2020 | computer | No Comments

Tip #1 — Rebates:

A rebate is not always a bargain. Computers with rebates are often close to being discontinued. You may pick up a good deal or purchase technology that’s about to become yesterday’s news. What’s more, stores will often package computers with a bunch of free items to make it look like you’re getting more value. Chances are the extras are either poor quality or items you’re unlikely to use. Also, they’re counting on you to not redeem your rebate, a very common occurrence.

Tip #2 — Extended Service Warrantees:

Buyer Beware! They’re a gamble, but not always a bad idea. If you’re purchasing a laptop and you plan to travel a lot, an extended warranty that covers replacement of the monitor/display can be a good gamble. Replacing a display can cost $400-$600, making the warranty worthwhile. On the other hand, if you plan on buying the warranty … Read More

Why Do We Need Computer Training?

May 4, 2020 | computer | No Comments

The worldwide market for technical-level computer training is nearly $30 billion strong, and this figure includes not only IT department training but large numbers of general staff members who take extensive computer classes as well.

The reason for computer training being such “big business” is no secret: almost any employer in any industry will tell you that the most important skills they are looking for in today’s economy are technology skills. And computer skills, in one way or another, touch upon almost all aspects of modern technology.

The Benefits of Cutting-edge Computer Training

Most people today are at least “computer literate,” and most high schools/colleges offer at least a few basic computer classes. The fact is, however, that the kinds of technical skills often needed in a business situation simply weren’t part of the curriculum in most people’s college majors.

This means additional training will be needed for those … Read More

I’ve always loved video games, ever since I first played them on a friend’s computer in the afternoon after elementary school. There’s something almost magical about the fact that we can move images around and interact with virtual worlds, a living fantasy presented for us to interact with however we please. I’ve also always wanted to make games myself but, until recently, didn’t have the technical knowledge to do so. Now, I’m a second year software engineering student, so if I weren’t able to code a game without too many dramas there’d be something drastically wrong. But what about the common person: the person for whom the term ‘memory leak’ conjures up images of their grandfather, ‘pipeline’ is where the water flows, and ‘blitting’ is unheard of? Well, everyone can get in on the game creation process, and you don’t even need to learn ‘real’ programming to do so.

So … Read More
