Kicking off on Tuesday, Oct. 13, Amazon Prime Day 2020 is expected to bring out massive deals on electronics, home appliances and all varieties of domestic tech. Until then, however, Amazon Canada has already begun the ramp-up to Prime Day by unveiling some sharp deals for early bird shoppers. (Check out Amazon Canada’s press release for the full list of discounts the retailer is promising.)

Here are the best of the early Amazon Prime Day deals we’ve found so far from Amazon Canada. Note that prices and availability were accurate at the time of publication, but are subject to change (as we expect them to on Tuesday).

Amazon’s Prime Day is almost upon us and (for once) Australians have an advantage! Thanks to time zones, Australians will get some additional time for bargains. Prime Day kicks off in Australia midnight AEST on Oct. 13 but ends at the end of Oct. 14 Pacific Time, giving Australians a little more time to shop.

Amazon rounds out the Echo.

Amazon line of smart speakers is switching up its look; the new Amazon Echo will be spherical. The price will be $100 (£90), which is what the company’s previous, third-generation Amazon Echo went for. The new Echo speaker will be available Oct. 22, and its fabric-covered body will come in three different colors: charcoal, glacier white and twilight blue. It’s open for preorder now.

While the woofer appears to be the same as the previous Echo’s, Amazon has packed a second .8-inch tweeter into the speaker, which should

Hey y’all, it’s Austin. Last week, in typical Amazon.com Inc. fashion, the Everything Store unveiled a new Everything Product for each category of buzzy gadget on the market today. At a news conference Thursday, the company showed off new smart speakers, streaming TV devices, Wi-Fi routers, a video game system, a car alarm and even a new drone security camera.

Amazon, in its relentless quest to own the home of the future, traditionally takes a spaghetti-at-the-wall approach to hardware development. Compared with rivals such as Apple Inc. or even Microsoft Corp., which generally limit their offerings to a refined set of electronics, Amazon’s ever-eclectic product line is refreshingly fun, surprising and, well, increasingly confusing. They don’t do “one more thing,” in Jobsian speak, but usually “a dozen more things.” And at this rate, people are likely to lose track of which Amazon products are actually Amazon’s.

  • Amazon launched two new smart home products that can move within the home: the Echo Show 10 and Ring Always Home Cam.
  • The Echo Show 10 can reorient its display, camera, and speakers to face the user’s direction, while the Ring Always Home Cam is a mini security drone that can fly around the home.
  • Both product could serve as a step toward Amazon’s broader ambitions to build an Alexa-enabled home robot, as reports from Business Insider and Bloomberg have indicated.
  • But the company will have to overcome serious privacy concerns along the way.

Amazon’s presence in the home took a big leap forward this week, and not just because the online retail giant announced a completely redesigned Echo lineup and big updates to Alexa.

Amazon’s smart home devices, whether it be an Echo speaker, Eero mesh router, or Ring security camera, have
