Q: I read your recent article regarding using Microsoft Word without having to pay. I am in the situation where I often do not have internet/Wi-Fi or even phone service (on a private boat). I like Microsoft Word because Wi-Fi is not needed. I keep all of my recipes on Word and access them when I am in remote areas on the boat. Is there any way around having to pay for Word?

— Janet Kvistad

A: If you want the capabilities of Word, including the ability to work without an internet connection, without having to pay for Word, I recommend you take a look at OpenOffice.

AT&T falsely told the US government that it met its obligation to deploy broadband at more than 133,000 locations in Mississippi, state officials say.

Since 2015, AT&T has received over $283 million from the Federal Communications Commission’s Connect America Fund to expand its network in Mississippi. But the Mississippi Public Service Commission (PSC) said it has evidence that AT&T’s fixed-wireless broadband is not available to all the homes and businesses where AT&T claims it offers service. The PSC asked the FCC to conduct “a complete compliance audit” of AT&T’s claim that it has met its obligation.

“Our investigation has found concrete, specific examples that show AT&T Mississippi has reported location addresses… as being served when, in fact, the addresses are without service under their [Connect America Fund] obligations,” said a

Those looking forward to streaming Netflix content in 4K HDR with the upcoming macOS Big Sur operating system will need a Mac with Apple’s T2 Security Chip, limiting the feature to recently released hardware.

Netflix recently updated a Help Center webpage with new guidance on viewing 4K HDR content in Safari on macOS Big Sur, noting both operating system and hardware requirements, reports Apple Terminal.

According to the support document only “[s]elect 2018 or later Mac computer[s] with an Apple T2 Security chip” are compatible with Ultra HD streaming. Further, all external monitors must feature 60Hz 4K capabilities and an HDCP 2.2 compliant connection.

Netflix fails to explain why Macs need a T2 chip to play back 4K HDR streams when comparable Windows machines do not. The chip does integrate a number of critical controllers like the system’s image signal processor and audio controller, which have been

One of the many goals when crypto currency (CC) was first invented was to establish a secure digital system of transaction. The technology used was Blockchain, and still is. Blockchain systems were designed to be impervious to problems often found with online financial systems using older technology – – problems such as account hacking, counterfeit payment authentications, and web site phishing scams.

Blockchain itself runs on peer-to-peer global record-keeping networks (distributed ledgers) that are secure, cheap, and reliable. Transaction records all around the world are stored on blockchain networks, and because these records are spread out over the whole community of users, the data is inherently resistant to modification. No single piece of data can be altered without the alteration of all other blocks in the network, which would require the collusion of the majority of the entire network – – millions of watchdogs. BUT – what if a website … Read More

The use of computers for religious activity has become common with time; today different types of church management software are used for administration in churches. This usually involves software that would maintain a database of the members, donors, financial transactions, events to be conducted and a lot more. They are not only an efficient way to store and perform sophisticated functions on the data but also a quick way to get reports in form of graphs.

Once you purchase software, you may find difficulties handling it, especially if you are not a computer literate. So the question is – What you need to do for handling the software you purchased in an efficient manner and how will you receive the support you need?
