“That alone should give people pause,” Dr. Rasmussen said of the team’s connection to Mr. Bannon’s nonprofit.

Dr. Yan and her colleagues did not respond to a request for comment.

Their original paper — known as “the Yan report” — was also seized upon by thousands online and reported on in The New York Post, even though experts rapidly debunked its findings. Researchers called it unscientific and said it ignored the wealth of data pointing to the virus’s natural origins.

Close relatives of the new coronavirus exist in bats. The virus may have moved directly into people from bats, or first jumped into another animal, such as a pangolin, before transitioning into humans. Both scenarios have played out before with other pathogens.

“We have a very good picture of how a virus of this kind could circulate and spill over into human beings,” said Brandon Ogbunu, a disease ecologist at

SANTA BARBARA, Calif., Oct. 12, 2020 /PRNewswire/ — There’s no denying that the COVID-19 pandemic has impacted our lives: it is changing the way we work, how we interact with family and friends, and the way we shop. A new report from Invoca, “High-Stakes Purchases and Consumer Confidence in the COVID Era,” highlights data from a survey of 500 U.S. adults to understand specifically how consumers are approaching expensive and complex purchases in this new environment. The data uncovers important findings for businesses aiming to give consumers confidence in making these complicated purchases online.

Despite the economic downturn brought on by COVID, Invoca’s report finds people are still making high-stakes purchases, such as cars, insurance policies, wireless plans, and big-ticket home improvement items. However, they’re changing the way they research and buy these items, in many cases moving entirely online. For example, the survey found online purchases

How to Dominate SEO in Small Markets [CASE STUDY]

October 9, 2020 | seo | No Comments

Although Google’s algorithm is based on universal guidelines, every market is different from one another.

By this, I mean that an SEO campaign may differ if you’re targeting the search market in the U.S., compared to targeting small international markets like the Danish one.

International SEO practitioners get to learn and try a variety of tactics – most of which are based on American studies that have plenty of prospects and a lot of data.

But this isn’t always the case.

When doing SEO in smaller markets, you’ll meet challenges that can slow down your campaign.

You’ll probably know this from testing different tactics.

This was the case for me and a client in Denmark, and it’s still an issue for many companies all over the world.

You need to use what you have to work with and develop a strategy from there to grow in small but competitive markets.

MANILA, Philippines — The government will discuss a proposal to allow poor students avail the services of computer and internet shops for their online classes, the Joint Task Force (JTF) COVID Shield revealed on Wednesday.

In a statement, JTF COVID Shield chief Police Lt. Gen. Guillermo Eleazar said the task force issued the proposal as most of the local government units (LGUs) are lacking funds to procure gadgets and provide them to thousands of students for distance learning.

“We feel and understand the concerns of both the students and the parents, especially the poor, in this new kind of learning method. That is why the national government, through the NTF (National Task Force) on COVID-19 and the IATF (Inter-Agency Task Force on Emerging Infectious Diseases) are really finding ways to extend all the necessary assistance to them,” Elezar, who is also

The IT industry is experiencing a gradual shift from on-premise data centers to flexible cloud solutions offering similar levels of networking, storage, and computing capabilities. In fact, cloud providers like Google Cloud are ideal for SMBs and startups thanks to the low initial investment. Meanwhile, data centers can be much more expensive when you take into account the costs for equipment and IT staff. You’re more likely to find data centers in midsize to enterprise-level companies, and even then, they use a hybridized approach with both cloud and on-premise resources.

Suffice to say, cloud computing is the new norm. If you’re an IT professional looking to sharpen your skill set, a cloud certification in a popular platform such as Google Cloud is a necessary addition to your arsenal. This Google Cloud Certifications Practice Tests + Courses Bundle contains all of the knowledge you need to prepare for the GCP certification

Harvard’s Office of International Education announced Friday morning that it would cancel study abroad programming for the Spring 2021 semester.

The decision comes in light of continued concerns over student health and safety, persistent travel restrictions, and countries’ evolving entry requirements due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Virtual study abroad programming will not be available as “for-credit options” for Harvard College students, OIE’s notice added.

However, the announcement does not apply to homebound international students enrolled in their local universities.

Camila L. Nardozzi, director of the OIE, called Friday’s decision “excruciatingly disappointing.”

“We’ve been watching the public health situation for months and months, since the start of all of this,” Nardozzi said. “Unfortunately, things worldwide haven’t progressed in the way that I think, globally, we would have hoped they would.”

Nardozzi said her office’s decision came as a result of extensive discussions with Harvard’s Office of Global Support Services, Provost Alan

Google has boosted its market power in the three years since EU antitrust enforcers ordered it to stop favouring its own price comparison shopping service, a study of 25 of its rivals showed on Monday.

Hit with a 2.4-billion-euro ($2.8 billion) fine three years ago by the European Commission for the offence, Google subsequently offered to allow competitors to bid for advertising space at the top of a search page to channel traffic to their sites.

Rivals however have said the proposal was ineffective and since then have urged EU antitrust chief Margrethe Vestager to sanction Google for not complying with her ruling.

The latest study by consultancy Lademann & Associates covered Axel Springer’s

price-comparison shopping service Idealo, British company Kelkoo, France’s LeGuide and others in 21 European countries.

“It (Google’s proposal) has further strengthened Google’s position on the national markets for

Local SEO Ranking Factors Study

May 9, 2020 | seo | No Comments

Categorical Variables

The following chart showed how a factor, that fit into one of two categories (primarily yes and no), correlated to Google pack performance. For example, a Google My Business profile either had the keyword in the business name, (yes), or it didn’t (no).

Categorical Variables in 2019 Local SEO Ranking Factors
Again, just like with the ordinal variables, basic SEO b locking and tackling is still necessary. Just having reviews, making sure you are optimizing you profile etc are all features of business ranking high in local packs.  More continued correlation with organic rankings driving GMB rankings should be more than enough to convince anyone to invest in their web presence. One of the main things that has changed as keyword in business name no longer correlates highly to pack rankings. Whether this is because the GMB product and support team have fixed the issue (color me skeptical) or because everyone is spamming their business name
