In my column last week, I wrote about China’s edge in AI robotics. 

I pointed out that China has been using advanced robotics in their manufacturing for decades and, most recently, have applied powerful new AI technology to help automate their factories. 

This is an important development for China and will push the US towards similar strides to use AI in more local manufacturing too. The downside for both countries is that AI manufacturing will be good for the robot industry but not that great for creating manufacturing jobs, as robots invade the workforce. 

AI Robotic Manufacturing, however, is just one of the legs of Chinese President Xi JinPing’s vision to take the tech crown from the US and make China less dependent on US technology for their future.

Emblematic of the barriers to learning computer science that girls have faced for years, a new Google/Gallup report shows that girls are less likely than boys to express interest in pursuing a career in computer science. About one in eight girls (12%) in grades seven through 12 in the U.S. say they are likely to pursue a career in computer science someday. Nearly three times as many boys (33%) say they are likely to pursue a career in this field.

Young Devdutt Padikkal is impressing and growing every day, thanks to the ongoing Indian Premier League in UAE. The 20-year old’s 45-ball 63 is already winning praises and fans are also drawing parallels of the rookie with former India star Yuvraj Singh. Impressed by Padikkal’s form, the veteran India allrounder took to his social media handle and lauded the youngster and said it would be great to be batting together soon – just to see who is better. “Form is temporary class is forever! @imVkohli however I haven’t seen this boy out of form since last 8 years which is unbelievable actually! Paddikal looks really good need to bat together and see who hits longer,” Yuvraj wrote in a tweet.
