Polling shows the resilience of the reputation PBS has built over the past five decades. Some 68 percent of respondents told YouGov between August 2019 and August 2020 that they have a positive opinion of PBS, making the service more popular than awards-dominating HBO and putting it on the heels of streaming giant Netflix. A Pew Research Center study on polarization and the American media published in January found that PBS is one of just three outlets — from among 30 choices — trusted by Americans of both parties more than they distrust it.

Paula Kerger, the president and chief executive of PBS, says that trust starts close to home. Even if viewers are skeptical of the media writ large, she argues, they trust journalists who are a part of their own community.

Small rural stations are helped by shared branding and programming, while the service’s urban behemoths benefit from

Probably the single biggest move Destiny 2 made after its split from Activision was making a sizable portion of the game free-to-play. The project was called “New Light,” meant to bring in Guardians from all over the gaming world to try Destiny if they had avoided it so far.

The amount of content offered was substantive. The entire base game of Destiny 2 and all its Red War campaign missions. Then both follow-up DLCs, Curse of Osiris and Warmind. Then most of the content in year 2, Seasons of the Forge, Drifter and Opulence. It’s a hefty mountain of content available for free.

And now, it’s almost all going away.

One thing Bungie has really not talked about at all is how the concept of the Destiny Content Vault is changing the free-to-play premise of New Light. A long, long time ago we got the barest hint

Written content is the primary means by which e-commerce sites can engage their visitors directly. Unlike physical shops, an e-commerce store doesn’t have staff to highlight customers’ options or talk about different offers. Alongside imagery, written content is one of the few tools you have at your disposal to sell your products to an unconvinced site visitor.

It also happens to be one of the main tools at your disposal to get that visitor to your site in the first place, as written language is still a significant consideration in search engine ranking algorithms.

So, how can ecommerce content teams write in such a way that internet shoppers find the site in the first place, then decide to go on and make a purchase?

BRUSSELS (Reuters) – Alphabet’s Google plans to pay $1 billion to publishers globally for their content over the next three years, its CEO said on Thursday, a move that could help it win over a powerful group amid heightened regulatory scrutiny worldwide.

News publishers have long fought the world’s most popular internet search engine for compensation for using their content, with European media groups leading the charge.

CEO Sundar Pichai said the new product called Google News Showcase will launch first in Germany, where it has signed up German newspapers including Der Spiegel, Stern, Die Zeit, and in Brazil with Folha de S.Paulo, Band and Infobae.

The product will be rolled out in Belgium, India, the Netherlands and other countries. About 200 publishers in Argentina, Australia, Britain, Brazil, Canada and Germany have signed up to the product.

7 Common Questions About SEO and Content

September 28, 2020 | seo | No Comments

Content marketing and search engine optimization (SEO) go hand in hand like chocolate and peanut butter. And I often get questions from clients and potential clients about how SEO fits into their overall content strategy.

This used to throw me for a bit of a loop — because I am NOT an SEO expert. So I hired Meg Casebolt of Love at First Search to join our team, and she’s taught me a TON about how content marketing and SEO can make beautiful music — and results — together.

Here are some of the most common questions I get about content and SEO and some brief primer answers.

How do I “do SEO” for my blog posts?

This is such a broad question — but generally speaking, the way we “do SEO” for a blog post is first to do some keyword research to know which keywords we want to

Imagine strapping on a wearable device before you hit the bed. You fall asleep, and at a certain point, the gadget guides your dreams and even records them. This is not a work of science fiction — but a reality, created in a lab at Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT).

MIT scientists have developed a sleep-tracking gadget named Dormio. It can alter dreams by manipulating a sleep stage called hypnagogia, which occurs when the mind transitions from experiencing drowsiness to a time when it loses consciousness. Individuals that enter hypnagogia can hear audio while they dream, unlike the Rapid eye movement (REM) stage, where most of the dreaming happens. They have published their findings in the Journal Consciousness and Cognition.

The device may help boost creativity or improve memory. It may help build new commercial technologies that can affect sleep onset, sleep quality, sleep-based memory consolidation, and learning, Dr Pattie

Even though right-wing elites repeatedly tout claims of conservative bias on Facebook and other online platforms, in reality, the bulk of data shows the opposite to be true. Per a weekend Politico report, as we near the 2020 presidential election, some of the most engaging posts on Facebook come from conservative voices outside the mainstream media, including Ben Shapiro, Dan Bongino, and David Harris, according to the Facebook-owned traffic analysis tool Crowdtangle. Engagement on Facebook is defined as likes, comments, shares, and reactions.

The company has maintained time and time again that its platform is free of political bias. Facebook says that its algorithm doesn’t favor conservatives, but it also doesn’t have to because the right has one primal advantage:

“Right-wing populism is always more engaging,” a Facebook executive told Politico. They added that conservative content caters to “an incredibly strong,

I happened to see my wife’s screen time analytics on her phone recently. She’s spending an average of almost seven hours a day on her phone.

And she’s not alone.

Global online content consumption is soaring in 2020, a new study of over 10,000 people in five countries says. The previous normal was just over three hours, but now my wife is — at least in this respect — completely and totally average. Average daily time spent consuming content is now six hours and 59 minutes, which includes phone, TV, and other forms of digital media.

The obvious question: if that’s average, how much screen time are the outliers getting?

Clearly, eight, nine, even ten hours a day. In fact, as a different study I covered a month ago
