Public safety solution enhances collaboration between patrol officers and dispatchers

Tyler Technologies, Inc. (NYSE: TYL) today announced the Long Beach Harbor Patrol Officers and Dispatchers in California have successfully gone live with Tyler’s New World Enterprise CADand New World ShieldForce® solutions, along with New World Enterprise Records, mobile messaging, and mobile field reporting.

The implementation of Tyler’s solutions replaces the agency’s previous tracking system used to manage dispatch activity.

“We recognized the need to implement a true computer-aided dispatch solution to better manage dispatch activity, streamline communication across the agency, and enhance our reporting processes,” said Jeremy Vetterlein, technical security project manager of Long Beach. “Tyler’s solution is already improving critical communication between our patrol officers and dispatch staff. The solution allows us to precisely locate and quickly respond to issues in the field, helping to ensure safety in our community.”

The 911 problems occurred the same night that widespread outages were reported for Microsoft services.
Microsoft 365 services are coming back after major outage
Redmond, Washington — home of Microsoft’s headquarters — tweeted Monday that city phones and emails were also experiencing outages.
The service health status page for Microsoft Azure — the company’s cloud computing service — posted, “A subset of customers in the Azure Public and Azure Government clouds may encounter errors performing authentication operations for a number of Microsoft or Azure services.” Microsoft said customers “should see signs of recovery.”
A spokesperson for the sheriff’s office in Hennepin County, Minnesota, told CNN they were not sure whether their 911 outage was related to the Microsoft issue.
The New York Police Department told CNN that while their 911 services had no reported outages, they did experience issues with Microsoft accounts.

We were tested in the past week.

The newsroom staff learned a new computer system for the third time in five years. That came a few weeks after we moved into a new email system. And then a new website.

At the same time staff members were doing hours of training for all of the new systems, they also were doing their best to keep their eyes on the ball by covering their assignments to bring you the news.

No one is complaining too loudly. Change is a fact of life in virtually every business, but even in a business as full of change as this one, it’s rare that so many changes come all at once. I commend these dedicated journalists for their diligence and dedication to working through challenges to bring you the news.
