  • Samsung has confirmed that the Exynos 1080 chip is coming soon.
  • The new chipset has the latest Cortex-A78 CPU and Mali-G78 GPU.

The Samsung Exynos 980 marked a major upgrade for the company’s mid-range silicon, delivering 5G for the first time in the segment while also offering a good level of CPU and GPU power.

The company recently revealed via Weibo that it’s working on the Exynos 1080, ostensibly coming as a successor of sorts to the Exynos 980. Now, Samsung Semiconductor has confirmed the new chipset to Android Authority.

Samsung also confirmed that the Exynos 1080 would be equipped with the latest Cortex-A78 CPU cores and Mali-G78 GPU. If the CPU arrangement is anything like the Exynos 980, we can expect two powerful Cortex-A78 cores and six Cortex-A55 cores for basic tasks.

It’s also believed that the new chipset could be built on a 5nm manufacturing process (down

One of the big new features of iOS 14 is Home Screen widgets, which provide information from apps at a glance. The ‌widgets‌ can be pinned to the ‌Home Screen‌ in various spots and sizes, allowing for many different layouts.

Many third-party apps have released ‌widgets‌, and now evidence that Spotify is developing its own official widget has appeared in a TestFlight beta.

The widget is currently available in small and medium sizes, with the former designed to display the artwork of the last played artist, song, or album, while the latter size shows four of the same content elements.

Unfortunately there are no play, pause, or next song buttons, since Apple only allows ‌widgets‌ to present read-only information, with interactive elements such as scrolling elements or switches not allowed, presumably due to battery life considerations.

Illustration for article titled Pakistan Is Also Doing the Ban TikTok Challenge

Pakistan officials have announced a ban on TikTok after receiving complaints of unlawful content on the popular short-form video-sharing app. It’s the latest country to block the app after India instituted a similar ban and the U.S. attempted to do the same because of a squabble over who owns TikTok’s American business, which is currently the Beijing-based Bytedance.

The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority said in a statement Friday that it came to the decision after TikTok failed to censor “immoral and indecent” content on its platform, the Associated Press reports. After receiving several complaints and petitions calling for the app to be banned, the authority gave TikTok a final warning in July to meet its guidelines and take down unlawful content (the Muslim-majority country has several media regulations intended to preserve conservative values), which the company purportedly failed to do.
