Sept. 28 (UPI) — Microsoft reported a service interruption Monday evening for Microsoft 365 programs, the company said.

“Users [are] unable to access Outlook.com, Microsoft Teams including Teams Live Events, and Office.com.,” the company said on its website. “Additionally, Power Platform and Dynamics365 properties are affected by this incident.”

“We’re not observing an increase in successful connections after rolling back a recent change. We’re working to evaluate additional mitigation solutions while we investigate the root cause,” the company tweeted.

The problem was first reported around 5 p.m. Eastern time, according to Down Detector, a website that tracks internet outages.

Users complained that even apps such as SharePoint, OneDrive and Noodle, which required a Microsoft email login, were unresponsive Monday night. Microsoft’s Azure cloud computing network was also inaccessible, users said.

“I don’t know if my file was saved and uploaded to the cloud properly,” posted a PowerPoint user with

TOKYO (Reuters) – SoftBank’s robotics arm said on Monday it will bring a food service robot developed by California-based Bear Robotics to Japan as restaurants grapple with labour shortages and seek to ensure social distancing during the COVID-19 pandemic.

The robot named Servi, which has layers of trays and is equipped with 3D cameras and Lidar sensors for navigation, will launch in January, SoftBank Group Corp said.

Servi will cost 99,800 yen ($950) per month excluding tax on a three year plan.

The launch leverages SoftBank’s long experience in bringing overseas technology to Japan but reflects the shift away from CEO Masayoshi Son’s earlier focus on humanoid robots.

Servi has been tested by Japanese restaurant operators, including Seven & i Holdings at its Denny’s chain, as the sector grapples with an aging workforce and deepening labour shortages.

SoftBank’s humanoid Pepper robot became the face of the company

Amazon is getting into game streaming with Luna.

Amazon

Amazon is getting into gaming. During Amazon’s big device announcement event on Thursday, the internet giant unveiled Luna, its cloud-based video game streaming service for Fire TV, phones, tablets and computers that rivals Microsoft’s xCloud and Google’s Stadia.

A “Luna Plus” subscription will cost $5.99 per month as part of an invite-only early access program. A controller designed for the service will also be sold, with “early access” pricing of $50, though gamers will also be able to use an Xbox One or PlayStation DualShock 4 controller, as well as a mouse and keyboard to play.

Running on Amazon’s AWS servers, games will stream at up to 1080p resolution and 60 frames per second at launch (with 4K support teased as “coming soon”), though a full list of titles wasn’t immediately available. The company says that games available in

Amazon Introduces Cloud Gaming Service, Luna

September 26, 2020 | technology | No Comments

Amazon has unveiled its own cloud gaming service called Luna, which will use Amazon Web Services (AWS) as its backbone. CNET reports the service is touting the ability to play anywhere, including iPhone and iPad. You can request early access to the service starting today.

Amazon Luna Platforms

Amazon says that at launch, Luna will be playable on PC, Mac, Amazon’s own Fire TV devices, as well as iPhone and iPad through web apps. An Android version is said to be coming soon as well.

This is a notable difference between Luna and the cloud gaming services from Microsoft and Google–xCloud and Stadia, respectively–which have run into Apple policies that have prevented the ability to play on iOS devices. Apple recently changed its rules, but Microsoft issued a statement maintaining that it’s still a bad experience for gamers.

For the time being, Luna will be available in the mainland US.
